This increase raises the issue of the use of revenues.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.i4ce.org\/home\/\">I4CE<\/a> distinguishes between 4 main uses of carbon revenues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Investment in low-carbon projects;<\/li>\n<li>Allocation to the general budget;<\/li>\n<li>Reduction of other taxes;<\/li>\n<li>Direct payment of premiums or subsidies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Several dimensions must be considered when assessing the relevance of revenue use, and there is no silver bullet for an optimal revenue spending. <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.i4ce.org\/home\/\">I4CE<\/a> shows that to <strong>maximize the acceptability and performance<\/strong> of carbon pricing schemes, <strong>transparency and discussions are key issues to address.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h3><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This climate brief highlights that while there is an acceleration of carbon pricing policy implementation, associated revenues are on the rise (USD 32 billion in 2017).
