This new process\u00a0focuses largely on cooperation and inclusivity to\u00a0encourage all actors, public and private, to commit\u00a0and act for the climate. In contrast to simply\u00a0sharing the burden of emissions reduction effort,\u00a0this dynamic encourages actors to explore and\u00a0capitalize on benefits and co-benefits of climate\u00a0action. Overall, this new approach moves away from\u00a0the constrained climate framework advocated by\u00a0the Kyoto Protocol, and as a result has encouraged\u00a0an unprecedented level of climate commitment from\u00a0both States and non-state actors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A stringent transparency process will be\u00a0necessary to assess the compatibility of all\u00a0commitments with long-term goals as well\u00a0as to identify potential avenues to achieve\u00a0those objectives. The role to coordinate and\u00a0communicate on climate actions will be performed\u00a0by the UNFCCC, the COP Presidencies and their\u00a0partners as well as the wider international academic\u00a0community. Meanwhile, the UNFCCC will also\u00a0maintain a regulatory framework that provides\u00a0visibility on the actions undertaken by Parties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>This new transnational approach of climate\u00a0governance also relies on (i) multiple cooperative\u00a0frameworks to accelerate sharing of best practices\u00a0and afford access to low-carbon solutions for\u00a0all Parties and actors, and (ii) a stronger \u201cpeer-pressure\u201d\u00a0system to maintain and enhance existing\u00a0commitments and actions from all stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The political process introduced by COP21\u00a0has enabled a new avenue for multilateral\u00a0cooperation on climate action.
