The <em>Climate Action in Financial Institutio<\/em>ns Initiative focuses on the integration or \u2018mainstreaming\u2019 of climate considerations into financial institutions activities, a necessary step to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the High-Level Thematic Dialogue on \u201cLocal Climate Solutions: Financing the Transition\u201d of the Global Climate Action Summit, R\u00e9my Rioux, CEO of the French Development Agency (AFD) announced the release of the Initiative\u2019s Joint Statement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this Statement, the Supporting Institutions reconfirm their commitment to collaborate to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accelerate progress and address common challenges in the integration of climate considerations in their activities, while promoting transparency and accountability, and<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate access to finance for cities and subnational actors to address climate change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Statement also takes stock of over 40 new and existing commitments, programs and efforts of financial institutions supporting local climate action.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mainstreamingclimate.org\/the-initiative-at-the-global-climate-action-summit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read the Statement<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, to help connect the dots, the Climate Action in Financial Institutions Initiative is also launching an additional online resource, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mainstreamingclimate.org\/connecting-the-dots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connecting the Dots between Climate Finance Initiatives<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.
