Yet more research is needed to understand the economic and social impacts, including which population groups may be positively or negatively affected, and how the social outcomes of such policies can be maximized or mitigated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Environmental budget tagging tools\u00a0can contribute to address this problem, by providing a starting point for\u00a0an exhaustive identification of budgetary measures with both\u00a0climate and social impacts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This event, jointly organized by the Institute for Climate Economics (<strong>I<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">4<\/span>CE<\/strong>), <a href=\"https:\/\/odi.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ODI<\/a>, and the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iisd.org\/events\/designing-fair-equitable-climate-and-energy-policies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD)<\/a>, and supported by the<a href=\"https:\/\/europeanclimate.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> European Climate Foundation (ECF)<\/a>, examined the complex social impacts of climate and energy policies. In doing so, it will highlight the importance of integrating climate and social perspectives to increase the sustainability and viability of these policies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Building on its experience with climate budget tagging practices, <strong>I<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">4<\/span>CE<\/strong> has been developing since 2021 a methodology to integrate social considerations into green budget tagging exercises. Both the methodology and first results for France were presented at this event.
